Transferring a .EU Domain Name to Another Registrar

Follow the steps mentioned below to Transfer your .EU domain name to a Registrar of your choice:

  1. Check if your domain name can be transferred . 1

  2. Apply for the Transfer at the New Registrar.

Once you have determined whether a domain name can be transferred, you will need to apply for the Transfer at the Registrar of your choice. Please refer to the New Registrar's Transfer Process for the same. They will have certain steps to verify your identity and then place the Transfer Request on your behalf.

  3. Respond to the Confirmation Email sent by the Registry.

In order to ensure that it is indeed an Authorized Person who has placed the Transfer request, the Registrant Contact for the domain name will receive an email from the Registry for the Transfer Authorization process, which needs to be approved within 14 days. The authorization can also be provided through a fax to the Registry from the Registrant Contact. The request is processed once the Registry receives an approval from the Registrant.

    Note
    • In case of a .EU domain name Transfer, the domain name Registration gets extended from the date of Transfer (till the second last day of the month, one year from the date of Transfer) and not from the date the domain name was originally set to expire prior to Transfer.

      Example:

If a .EU domain name has the Expiry Date as 30 Oct, 2009 and it gets transferred to another Registrar on 2 Sep, 2009, then the new Expiry Date will be 29 Sep, 2010 and not 30 Oct, 2010.

    • If you have placed Registration/Renewal Order for multiple years and you decide to have the domain name Transferred away from www.eglobaldomains.com to another Registrar while your domain name is still valid for one or more years with respect to the Order you had placed initially, you stand to forfeit the number of years remaining. Also, there would be no refund provided for payment made for this unutilized domain name validity term.

      Examples:

      • Multiple Year Registration.

        1. You choose to register yourdomain.eu for 4 years on 26 Aug, 2009.

        2. www.eglobaldomains.com will set the Expiry Date of yourdomain.eu as 30 Aug, 2013 in our System.

        3. Now on 1 Aug, 2010, if you decide to have the domain name transferred away, the new Expiry Date after Transfer will be 30 Aug, 2011. The three years unutilized in the domain name validity term with respect to the 4 years Registration Order placed initially by you will not be considered. Also, there would not be any refund for the payment made by you for the 3 unutilized years.

      • Multiple Year Renewal.

        1. You choose to renew yourotherdomain.eu expiring on 30 Aug, 2009, for 4 years.

        2. www.eglobaldomains.com will set the Expiry Date of your-other-domain.eu as 30 Aug, 2013 in our System.

    • If the Transfer involves change of the Registrant Contact, then both the Current and the New Registrant Contact for the domain name will receive an email from the Registry for the Authorization process, which needs to be approved within 14 days. The authorization can also be provided through a fax to the Registry, from both the Current as well as the New Registrant Contact.

    • If the email address associated with the Current and the New Registrant Contact is the same, the Registry requires the Current Registrant to provide approval through a fax. The New Registrant, however, may respond to the email received from the Registry and approve the action.

    • The request is processed once the Registry receives approval from both the Current and the New Registrant for the change of Registrant as well as approval from the Current Registrant for the change of the Registrar.
